Managing Targets

Add the domains, subdomains, and IPs you want to scan

What are targets?

Targets are the assets you want Luna to scan. These can be domains (e.g. example.com), subdomains (e.g. app.example.com), or IP addresses.

You must add targets before you can run a scan against them. Your plan determines how many targets you can have active at once. You can see your usage on the Targets page.

Note: Internal and private IP addresses (such as 127.0.0.1, 10.x.x.x, 192.168.x.x) are blocked and cannot be added as targets.

Adding targets

There are two ways to add targets:

Add manually

  1. Go to Targets in the sidebar
  2. Click Add Targets
  3. Enter one or more targets, separated by commas
  4. Click Add Targets

Luna will tell you how many were added, how many were duplicates (already in your list), and how many were reactivated (previously deleted targets within the 30-day hold period).

Import from file

For bulk imports, you can upload a file containing your targets:

  1. Go to Targets
  2. Drag and drop a file onto the upload zone, or click to browse
  3. Supported formats: .txt, .csv, .json

Text files should have one target per line. CSV files should have targets in the first column.

Searching and filtering

Use the search bar at the top of the Targets page to filter your target list. The search matches against target names in real time as you type.

Each target shows a badge indicating its type: Domain, URL, or IP.

Removing targets

You can remove targets individually or in bulk:

  • Single target: Click the delete button next to the target
  • Bulk delete: Select multiple targets using the checkboxes, then click the bulk delete button
30-day hold: When you delete a target, it enters a 30-day hold period. During this time it still counts toward your target limit but cannot be scanned. This prevents accidental re-scanning of assets you've removed. You can see held targets in the "Locked Targets" section at the bottom of the page, along with countdown timers showing when each will be fully released.

Import from DNS providers

If you manage your DNS through AWS Route 53 or Cloudflare, you can connect these services to automatically import your DNS zones as targets.

  1. Go to Integrations in the sidebar
  2. Find the AWS Route 53 or Cloudflare integration card
  3. Enter your credentials (AWS role ARN or Cloudflare API token)
  4. Select which DNS zones to import

This is a convenient way to keep your target list in sync with your actual infrastructure.

Target limits

Each plan has a maximum number of active targets. Your current usage is displayed at the top of the Targets page as a slot counter (e.g. "25/50 used").

If you reach your limit, you'll need to remove existing targets or upgrade your plan before adding more. Visit Billing to see your current usage and plan options.
